Why I don't use digg.com anymore!

I liked digg. I am a sucker for social networking sites and I read the articles, form an opinion and then head to the comments page ready for war, or at least heated debate.

But I've had to quit using digg.com. It isn't that the site is too juvenile. All social/news networking sites seem to have a fair amount of juvenile posters and I am even one of them sometimes. It isn't that digg doesn't have good content.

The reason that I have had to quit using digg.com is that digg doesn't remember me. It is kind of strange really. I sort of consider digg to be a friend, so it always surprises me that digg doesn't recognize me. I wouldn't put up with the behavior from a neighbor that was trying to be my friend though, and I won't put up with it from digg either.

It doesn't seem to matter what browser I use (Opera, Foxfire, IE7 and others) or what setting I put my cookies on, I am asked to log in repeatedly when trying to use digg.

Even modding up or down is likely to bring me to a log-in screen. I dutifully check the "remember me PLEASE mr. digg" box, but I know deep down inside that digg will not remember me the next time I post. Not even during the same browsing session.

So, it has become too frustrating for me to participate. Sometimes I will check back with digg to see if something has changed (like today when reddit was down forever for some database rebuild) but mostly I just don't come round here no more.

But I do have to wonder - am I the only one? Is this a known problem? (I did google it, to no avail.) Why is it that digg can't seem to remember me?
